We have been talking to people all week about the disappointing result from the Land Use committee on Secondary Suites this week but we are certainly not deterred in our efforts as we head to the full council meeting on March 7^th.  In some of these conversations and certainly over twitter in the last few days Aldermen Keating and Mar have been taking some flak for declaring a Pecuniary interest regarding the secondary suites recommendation and therefore were unable to participate in the committee meeting. This issue is near and dear to us at VCC and we are very hopeful that Council will see the wisdom in a blanket bylaw that allows secondary suites in all of Calgary. We, like many of you, were very disappointed that Mar and Keats did not participate; however, we fully support and in fact celebrate their decision to do so. The rules are very clear on this sort of issue and we are very glad we have elected officials that are transparent and take this sort of situation so seriously. With that, thank you Aldermen Mar and Councilor Keating for doing such a great job of representing your constituents!
